The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) pays up to $1,633 for a single person and $2,813 for a family for the 2025 tax year, plus a disability supplement of up to $843. Up to half is delivered in advance through the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB) in three instalments. All amounts here come from the CRA’s how much you can get page.

2026 ACWB Payment Dates

The CRA issues the advance portion three times a year. The confirmed 2026 dates are:

Instalment2026 payment date

These three advances total up to 50% of your estimated CWB. The remaining balance is paid as a refundable credit when you file your tax return.

2025 Canada Workers Benefit Amounts

Basic maximum$1,633$2,813
Disability supplement (each eligible person)$843$843

The maximum basic amount and the disability supplement vary for residents of Quebec, Nunavut, and Alberta, which set their own configurations.

Income Thresholds

The CWB is income-tested. The basic amount is reduced gradually above a starting point and disappears entirely at the cut-off.

Your situationReduction starts aboveReduced to $0 above
Single, basic amount$26,855$37,742
Family, basic amount$30,639$49,393
Single, disability supplement$37,740$43,360
Family, disability supplement$49,389$55,009 (one spouse eligible) / $60,629 (both)

The Disability Supplement

If you are approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), you can receive an extra $843 on top of the basic CWB. In a couple where both partners qualify for the DTC, each person can receive their own disability supplement, while only one receives the basic family amount.

How the Advance Works

If you were entitled to the CWB on your previous return, the CRA automatically pays up to 50% of your estimated benefit across the three ACWB dates — no application needed. If you also qualify for the disability supplement, 50% of that is included in the advance payments. You must be a resident of Canada on the first day of each payment period to receive that instalment.

Who Qualifies

You are eligible for the Canada Workers Benefit if you:

  • earn working income and are a resident of Canada throughout the year;
  • are 19 or older on December 31, or live with a spouse, common-law partner, or child.

You generally do not qualify if you were a full-time student for more than 13 weeks with no dependants, or were confined to prison for 90 days or more during the year. You claim the full benefit by completing Schedule 6 with your tax return.
